Caregiver Support and Emergency

Respite Care

When a primary caregiver needs relief, our staff is happy to step in and keep your loved one healthy and safe up to 24 hours a day. You’ve given your time and energy to someone in need, so you deserve time to care for yourself and get some rest. Call us now to get some relief, protect your relationship with your loved one and prevent caregiver burnout.

We can provide respite care in your home or other locations such as foster care, a hospital, a nursing or hospice facility, camp or other settings, depending on your DHS waiver. If the person receiving respite care lives in a licensed setting, room and board will also be covered.

Respite does not cover:
  • Services that are specifically directed toward the training and habilitation of the person
  • Room and board if you are living at home or in an unlicensed setting
  • Services for a person who receives customized living or shift-staff foster care, unless there is a community emergency or disaster

Crisis Respite

For individuals who need shelter, specialized care or interventions to recover from crisis situations such as mental health episodes, crisis respite is a short-term solution. We’ll work with you and your case manager to develop a person-centered intervention plan and continuously make recommendations to help the person in their care adjust to living independently. This service can be provided in home, in foster care settings, in community residential settings or in licensed hotels if no other options are available or appropriate.

Our highly trained crisis respite providers are licensed as intensive support service providers, and specialized staff are trained in crisis prevention, intervention and resolution. According to your needs, your provider may have additional licenses, certifications, credentials or degrees.

Crisis respite does not cover:
  • Cost of the hotel room and meals for the person’s caregiver when the person receives crisis respite in their home
  • Cost of the hotel room and meals for the person and direct care staff when the person receives crisis respite in a licensed hotel
  • Services duplicative of what a licensed foster care/CRS setting is required to provide
  • Services duplicative of case management or any other waiver service

24 Hour Emergency Assistance

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.

Our emergency assistance service includes on-call counseling, problem solving and immediate response for assistance in your home due to a health or personal emergency. We create a plan ahead of time with the help of your case manager and the rest of your care team so that when the need arises, you’ll get the kind of help you need. Our team can help de-escalate situations when you are unable to reach a therapist, family member or other support service provider.

Emergency assistance is available for individuals who live in their own homes but do not receive 24-hour supervision and for households that would otherwise require extensive, routine support.
